The Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) is going through some financial challenges as it relates to the management of our basketball. The loss of First Bank and Dolphins basketball teams our female representatives in FIBA Africa club competition has once again highlighted the need for more competitions and sponsorship. There is the need to bring on board more corporate sponsors and for our teams to attract foreign players to boost our international participation and credentials. Basketball is one of the most popular game after football in this country and with proper marketing and packaging more sponsors will be brought in and with foreign partnership, the game will grow. At this point it will not be wrong for our NBBF officials to learn from the NBA and other leading leagues in Europe and SouthAmerica.
